West better than East? I think not

I'd noticed people around me, especially my parents, shying away when someone ask me "so do you like US better or do you prefer Hong Kong". My parents are protective. They worry, too much at times, that I'm not happy with the decision of moving back. They would try to convince me that Hong Kong is better when I am in Hong Kong, and US is better when I'm in US.

While I totally appreciate this concern they have on my "emotional health", man was these unnecessary. I have my opinion about US, Hong Kong and China, and it really isn't an absolute "A is better than B" thing. It's like comparing a big coorperation in NY with a successful startup in LA. Different ways of doing things, different cultures. Sure, there are things in the big apple that the startup should do, and energy in startups that the big guys should reclaim.
It's all about learning what's good and bad about a system, do the goods and toss the bads.

In essence, this has been what Hong Kong is about for a while, at least before 1997. I learn a few things while I'm in US, and I'm certainly learning things here working in HK. It's the experience that counts.
