I tried downloading Google Local for Mobile. Knowing that my without any data plan for my mobile plan would make GLM infessible, I tried anyways to see what google would say.
I wonder if this is something they can solve by routing around the problem. I can upload the program to my v3 via bluetooth, and then if I were to have unlimited SMS, could they have been using that as transport layer instead of normal GPRS signals?
All the program needs is to have the coordinates and name of interesting places sent back to it after transmitting the query. For map update I could have been using bluetooth via my ibook once I'm back home. Maps don't change that much. it's the shops that changes.
Of course I'm totally speculating the ease of implementation here, I'm probably waaaaay off and sounding like an ass, but we'll see.
